SOMRAF Philosophy

The problem of Somali marginalized minority groups continued to worsen without any improvement or remedies necessitating the establishment of SOMRAF to fill the information gaps regarding minority group's socio-economic status and build a frame of cooperation with all related bodies such us aid agencies, donors, foundations & policy makers to explore interim intervention and explore durable solution in the abhorring human rights facing the community as well as address their immediate humanitarian needs.

The level of human rights violations faced by the community is incomparable to anywhere else with regard to new socially set terminologies of dehumanization and victimization of the highest order devised by the dominant clans which was the source of widespread of culture of impunity in Somalia

To explore issues relating to protection of minorities, programs & mechanisms available within international standards as well as find out new and creative solutions.

 To combating racial discrimination, improve the access of Somali Minorities to justice and to increase their capacity to defend their rights, and enhance accountability and good practice among target communities, the Somali/ Somaliland Government and other development actors to achieve justice development.

 We need to see marginalized minority community groups participate in the country's socio - economic development and political issues.
We are committed to serve needy communities in inaccessible areas.

MINORITY GROUPS TARGETED
- Generally addressing and targeting all Somali minority groups which are totaling 2,000,000 according to a study on Minority Groups in Somalia published by the United Nations Coordination Unit (UNCU) and the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Somalia in September 2002.
